The Internet is rapidly becoming a utility, not a luxury. Connectivity is as important as electricity and water, and knowing that your apartment or townhouse has access to a solid internet setup can sometimes be the tiebreaker if you’re debating where to move. Comcast is continuing its quest to ensure that its subscribers have access to good internet connectivity now and in the future, and the latest step in that never-ending quest is its Connected Building solution.
Comcast has all this linked to its Multifamily Xfinity Broadband Gateway, which admittedly sounds like a science fiction innovation but is actually just infrastructure allowing multiple networks to connect to central hardware. They see this as a win for both landlords and tenants.
Landlords will appreciate that this means they can easily provide property-wide Wi-Fi and manage connected devices like thermostats, locks, and security cameras. It’s also more cost-effective and can optimize their existing setup for an extra smooth experience.
Residents will be happier with faster speeds and Xfinity Advanced Security. Plus the gateway uses Tri-Band Wifi 6E, which means not only is it speedier and more secure, it’s also more efficient in reducing interference in crowded areas. Like, say, apartment buildings! Best of all, if the apartment already has Xfinity up and running, it means less of a headache for residents while the cable guy wanders around trying to figure out the connections!
Sometimes, Xfinity rolls out improvements that are big and flashy, and sometimes, they come up with ideas that quietly make everything that much easier. This may not be headline news for everyone, but if you’ve ever dealt with getting the internet up and running in a new apartment, you know that anything that makes it less of a hassle is a huge win!
